The following information provides a detailed overview of the six different awards alongside the nomination criteria – please click on the links below the criteria to submit your nomination's.


APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR

The nominee should demonstrate a passion and determination for their role with excellent commitment to their studies. The winner of this award could include those who have chosen to retrain in a different discipline, returned to work, have moved to this country to train, or be dedicated to career development. This award acknowledges a learner who has chosen their destiny and is working hard to achieve their life goals as well as adding value to their employer.

Nominations could include feedback and testimonials from mentors, tutors, assessors, employers, colleagues and customers. Indicators include:

  • Timely completion
  • Advocate of the Prevent Duty in terms of implementing the duty in pharmacy to keep the community safe
  • Development of skills in English and Maths
  • Development of employability skills and professionalism
  • Demonstrated inspiration and a desire for stretch and challenge
  • Dedicated to person-centred care

Pre-registration pharmacy technician of the Year

The nominee should demonstrate a passion and determination for their role with excellent commitment to their studies.   • Evidence of contribution to improved services to patients and public

MENTOR OF THE YEAR

Mentors provide a pivotal role in the support and nurture of learners. Many go beyond the expected commitment in training and developing staff.

The nomination could come from learner(s), training providers, employers. Indicators include:

  • Development of learners’ employability skills and professionalism
  • Desire and ability to inspire, stretch and challenge learners
  • Development of learners to achieve person-centred care and enhance pharmacy performance
  • Demonstrate creative approaches to work-based learning
  • Demonstrate achievement, retention and learner satisfaction
  • Demonstrate how they have helped learners to overcome barriers that might have otherwise prevented them from continuing their studies or achieving their qualification

Health Champion of the Year

This award recognises a learner who has utilised the skills and knowledge acquired whilst undertaking training and has made a significant contribution to a local health initiative. Nominations can come from learners, training providers, employers, public health.

Pre-registration Pharmacist OF THE YEAR

Nominations could come from self, employer, colleagues, pharmacist tutor, training provider and should include a brief account of their biggest achievement, how they would see pharmacy developing, how they have contributed during their year to person centred care.

Healthcare Assistant of the Year

This award recognises the pivotal role that pharmacy support staff provide in providing person-centred care in their community. This includes health care assistants, medicine counter assistants, dispensing assistants. The nominees should demonstrate a passion for continuing professional development, awareness of current local initiatives to improve the wellbeing of the public, as well as excellent communication skills, product knowledge and understanding of minor ailments and their treatments.

Nominations could include feedback and testimonials from mentors, tutors, assessors, employers, colleagues, customers and other healthcare professionals. Indicators include:

  • Training records
  • Customer testimonials
  • Employer nomination

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity dedicated to fighting for a life unlimited by cystic fibrosis (CF) for everyone affected by the condition.

Our mission is to create a world where being born with CF no longer means a life-long struggle, when everyone living with the condition will be able to look forward to a long, healthy life.

Pharmacist Support is the profession’s independent charity which supports pharmacy students, pre-registration trainees, pharmacists, retired pharmacists and their dependents.

The charity provides a broad range of services including financial support, careers advice, a ‘listening friend’ service and wellbeing workshops.
