The importance of apprentices to the country’s workforce is inestimable - our apprenticeship programme has been a crowning achievement for Buttercups for many years. Apprenticeships allow learners and their employers to grow together, creating working relationships based on mutual understanding and a shared goal. We have been privileged to share this journey with apprentices who have gone on to work in all aspects of pharmacy and beyond. This award recognises the incredible talents of our apprenticeship learners.
Pharmacy technicians provide vital support to their pharmacists and their patients, and are invaluable in the teaching and development of the wider team. Although the role can differ significantly between organisations, the commitment shown by pharmacy technicians throughout the industry is invariable. As the role of the pharmacy technician develops, we know that our learners will continue to rise to new challenges and succeed in adding incredible value to their organisations.
What makes a good mentor? A good mentor is supportive, patient, knowledgeable, caring and encouraging. The best mentors stay with you for a lifetime - their support, knowledge and advice can inform your decisions long into your future. Over the years, we have been privileged to know many dedicated mentors who have selflessly provided both personal and professional support to their learners. This award is dedicated to all those mentors who have supported Buttercups and its learners.
Buttercups was at the forefront of delivering public health courses, developing our health champion programme in 2010. Since then, we have become the largest RSPH centre for Understanding Health Improvement. Healthy Living Pharmacy has allowed us to deliver workshops throughout the country and meet individuals that are dedicated to improving health outcomes in their communities. This award celebrates the enormous contribution that health champions make to their patients.
For over ten years, Buttercups’ pre-registration pharmacist training programmes have been a paradigm of how to build relationships and empower pharmacists of the future. We have been so proud to be a part of all these pharmacists’ early careers, and the contributions they have since made to pharmacy services. The calibre of pre-registration pharmacists that we have seen over the years continues to convince us of a bright future for pharmacy.
Healthcare assistants are the front line of the team, providing support in virtually all aspects of pharmacy. The relationships that healthcare assistants forge with patients are pivotal to the continued success of the pharmacy, ensuring life-long customers and making a real difference in the communities in which they work. It is important to recognise the value that healthcare assistants add to the day-to-day lives of thousands of patients throughout the country.
